Our Light Pollution Experts

One of our most frequent collaborators is Dr. Alejandro Sánchez de Miguel, who has been developing studies for more than 20 years in Light Pollution, 10 years in the Analysis of Nocturnal Satellite Photos of the Earth, 3 years creating lighting models, and 10 years doing Hyperspectral Light Pollution Studies.

Another of our collaborators is Dr. David Lago Chacón, who has more than 10 years of experience in the use of astronomical instrumentation. and more than 10 years of experience in Light Pollution and Scientific Communication.

He is another of our most relevant researchers for his experience of more than 20 years in Research on Light Pollution, more than 10 years in the modeling of the so-called Sky Glow, as well as more than 10 years doing studies of Hyperspectral Light Pollution.

We can not forget about Dr. Christopher C.M. Kyba, who is among the greatest researchers of the world with the greatest impact on his scientific publication on Light Pollution, with more than 7 years in the development of Ecological Exterior Lighting, with more than 5 years of experience in modeling light, and pioneer in the realization of flights for the remote sensing of light pollution.

Our Environmental Partners

GEASIGlogo

GEASIG is a training company specialised in the environmental sector. Some of their expertise areas are; hydrology, renewable energy, energy efficiency and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Their collaboration with Savestars Consulting SL focuses on the application of GIS tools for analyzing variables and parameters influencing the Light Pollution, allowing the most professional and complete environmental reports.

luminica-ambiental-logo

Lumínica Ambiental is a specialized technical office dedicated to light pollution and outdoor lighting in all its areas: technical, scientific, legislative, educational and informative. Their projects offer the best compromise that guarantees the balance between the functionality of night lighting and the care to preserve the dark conditions of the night environment.

savestras_info_sources

Our Info Sources

NASA, ESA, JAXA, CSA and ROSKOSMOS are our images providers, so they are our main info source.

Our main providers of images are those that are taken by the astronauts from the ISS – International Space Station.

To achieve our goal of providing the most professional and thorough service possible, our main sources of information are provided from official agencies such as the National Institute of Statistics and the Government of Spain among others.

Why Work With Us

Light Pollution

Light pollution seriously affects both our own biorhythms as well as the biorhythms of wildlife including insects, birds and sea turtles and more. A recent study estimated that nearly one billion migratory birds die each year in North America due to light pollution.

We must make it clear that we are talking about one more type of pollution caused by human activity, it also represents a very significant increase in electricity bills of municipalities and individuals. Consequently, this waste of energy wasted by illuminating the heavens contributes to increasing the greenhouse effect on Earth, since huge amounts of carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere only to produce energy that then we throw into heaven. So,

Many groups, including professional and amateur astronomers, astrophysicists, have spent decades reporting the serious problem of light pollution.

The “International Dark Sky Association” (IDA) is the body for excellence in protecting dark skies of the world and the delicate ecosystems in them, in addition to promoting awareness of the problem worldwide there. IDA has several conservation programs darkness in national parks, communities and reserves.

In Spain the association “Cel Fosc” has spent years denouncing the problems of light pollution and proposing real solutions. Likewise, astrophysicists in Tenerife observatories (Teide Observatory) and La Palma (Roque de los Muchachos Observatory) have almost three protected decades of light pollution thanks to the “Technical Office for the Protection of the Quality of Heaven” (OTPC) Institute Astrophysics de Canarias (IAC).

Many Spanish regions like Catalonia, Navarra, the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Madrid, Castilla y Leon, Extremadura and Andalusia, have regulations to take care of this, but unfortunately many are not efficient and in most cases are not being applied . The same is true in some cities, one of the most striking that of Córdoba, a pioneer in enacting this type of protective laws of Heaven (1998) city, but where important technical errors that have not yet been remedied cases were committed.

What is not measured can not be improved.
What is not improved is always degraded
